Chugchilán
San Miguel of Chugchilán is a parish in the canton of Sigchos, in the province of Cotopaxi. The town of Chugchilán was established on September 29, 1861.
The place is named Chugchilan because it was founded on land donated by Mr. Miguel Chugchilan, where the church and other community areas were built.
Chugchilán has 31 communities: Pilapuchin, Chaupi, Guayama Grande, Jataló, Guayama San Pedro, La Moya, Cuisana, Shiñacunga, Cóndor Ucto, Moreta, Tunducto, Sigue, Itupungo, Guantug, Chasualo, Itualo, Chinalo Bajo, Chinalo Sector 1, Guasumbini Chico, El Rodeo, Chinalo Alto, Amanta, Yacuchaqui, Chugchilán Centro, Sarahuasi, Tilinche, Guarumal, Galapagos, Aza Cruz, Yana Yacu, Fátima y Tilipulo San Pedro.
Where is Chugchilán?
Chugchilán is located in the central highlands of Ecuador, southeast of the Sigchos canton and northwest of the Cotopaxi province. Chugchilán is 97.6 kilometers from Latacunga (via Sigchos) and 7.3 kilometers (as the crow flies) from Quilotoa.
How to get to Chugchilán?
You can travel to Chugchilán by private car, taking the Pan-American Highway South E35 to the turnoff for the Lasso-Tanicuchi-Sigchos road. You can also get there by public transport from the Latacunga Bus Terminal to Chugchilán (on average, 4 buses per day) or by connecting with buses to Sigchos or Zumbahua.

Quilotoa Lagoon is part of the Chugchilán parish. It is considered the area's biggest tourist attraction due to its easy access and incredible natural beauty, drawing a significant number of tourists from around the world.

MALQUI Y MACHAY
Malqui Machay is a site with archaeological ruins in the form of a trapezoidal plaza with stones carved in the Inca style and which, according to some studies, could have been the last residence of the family of the Inca Cápac Atahualpa.
