Need authorization to visit Quilotoa?

No prior permit or authorization is required to visit Quilotoa. Registration is required upon entering the Ilinizas Ecological Reserve areas (e.g., Quilotoa Beach).

What is the entrance fee to Quilotoa for visitors?

Admission fee to the Quilotoa Community (managed by local residents) costs $2 per person ($1 for children and seniors); it includes parking and restrooms. Admission to the lagoon and crater is free.

Wheelchair access to Quilotoa?

Wheelchair access is available at the entrance to the Quilotoa Community and at the main viewing point of Quilotoa Lagoon.

Can I swim in Quilotoa Lagoon?

Swim in Quilotoa is prohibited. Do not enter or attempt to swim in Quilotoa Lagoon. There is no rescue or first aid assistance on site.

Are pets allowed at Quilotoa?

Pets are not allow to entrance to this Protected Area. Pets are prohibited in the lagoon area and other areas of the Ilinizas Reserve. You may be subject to legal penalties.

Altitude Sickness in Quilotoa?

It's possible to feel the effects of altitude on Quilotoa, but each person reacts differently. We suggest acclimatizing beforehand or taking appropriate medical precautions.
